They don’t make airline captains like Ernie Gann anymore. Keeping passengers on an airplane with 111 degree internal temperatures for hours?!?! Undoubtedly, management told them to keep the revenue paying passengers on board while they pondered a fix for whatever the mechanical problems were. It’s either that or more COVID-caused mental illness. I’d have waited maybe 15 minutes, then taxied up to the nearest empty gate (no matter which airline owned it) and given the ground people another 15 minutes to roll up an air stair. After that, I’d order the doors blown and the slides deployed. I’d lose my job, but no airline would dare subject their passengers to that type of treatment again.
