I like to think that I perform conscientious pre-flight inspections, but even I have to confess that sometimes I only take a quick glance at the airplane’s tires to see that they are well inflated (or at least not flat!), and check for a cotter pin device or safety wire on the nut. When it’s rainy or the plane is sitting on a slushy, wet or muddy ramp, kneeling down to examine tread and look for exposed cords is not fun. Anyway, here’s a reminder of what to look for:
