SJPA John Volk Scholarship Fund Update & Request

In June, the San Juan Pilots Association made 5 scholarship awards to graduating high school students planning aerospace studies in universities and flight training schools.

Your generous contribution to the SJPA - John Volk Scholarship Fund last year helped make that possible. Thank you.

Recent awardees include students in aerospace and electrical engineering (doing exceptionally well at MIT, UW, and SCU), and aviation training schools (Embry Riddle Aeronautical University). This year a young woman who had just gained private, instrument and commercial ratings, now flying for Kenmore Air, reached out on our behalf to high school students attracting several scholarship applicants. One of these is a high school student now working on her private license in her senior HS year.

Donations like yours over the past decade have helped more than 40 young people now engaged in aerospace science and engineering, others with private and commercial pilots licences, and airframe/power plant experience.

Aviation in our island community needs these people, students need the help, the training is expensive. It is hard work, there’s no grade inflation.

Please give a hand. At the SJPA website click on the DONATE button, and contribute to the John Volk Memorial Scholarship Fund:

You can also donate at our annual BBQ this Saturday, September 21st
