From Mike Otis, the airport manager at KFHR:
Unfortunately, construction progress on the A Hangar area taxi lanes is paused while we wait on additional confirmation testing that the planned concrete surfacing meets FAA specifications. Based on current testing progress, it is anticipated that concrete taxi lane surfacing work will resume on September 24th. Options to minimize further impacts to the tenants in this area of the airport and a revised construction schedule remain under development at this time. Based on the information currently available, the following hangar access impacts are anticipated:
East side A Hangar units – No aircraft access from now until September 23rd while construction is paused. Beginning September 24th concrete placement will be underway, and the area will continue to be closed to aircraft operations. A completion date for this phase of work will be provided once the revised construction schedule is developed.
West side A Hangar units – No aircraft access anticipated from now until at least September 16th while surfacing options for this area are further evaluated. A completion date for this phase of work will be provided once the updated construction schedule is developed.
Existing Box Hangar units west of A Hangar – Current aircraft and vehicle access routes will remain in place for the time being while surfacing options for this area are evaluated. Dates of closure and completion for this phase of work will be provided once the updated construction schedule is developed.
Existing Box Hangar units north of A Hangar – Current aircraft and vehicle access routes will remain in place for the time being while surfacing options for this area are evaluated. Dates of closure and completion for this phase of work will be provided once the updated construction schedule is developed.
The above dates remain dependent upon completion of the concrete testing and weather conditions. Additional information will be provided once the updated construction schedule is available. Providing temporary access to A Hangar was evaluated but at this time is not planned. It will be reevaluated once the updated construction schedule is fully developed, and the duration of the impacts are known.
